1919:: Prohibition

Unfortunately, the newly opened bar was short-lived with the enactment of Prohibition in 1919. In 1923, Celar Gebo sold the bar to Oran Moore who operated the bar as a cigar and soda shop, but a “speakeasy” was quietly run in the bar’s back room for those who disagreed with Congress’ latest amendment.
